Last month, Laura of The Spiced Life, held an event called Grandma's Recipes. Laura decided to host this event because her grandmother (whom she had lost not too long ago) had been on her mind a lot. I immediately knew I would participate in this event because my grandmother is, in a large part, inspiration for my own blog. My grandmother has been gone from my life for a longer period of time, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her. Today, I live only two miles down the road from her home and only two miles away from where I grew up. So, on a daily basis I am flooded with memories of my youth. Gee, I said that like I was really old or something!
I am very excited to announce that after after a few email exchanges with Laura we have decided to make this a monthly event! However, to open the door for more people to participate, we have decided to change the event to Family Recipes: Memories of Family, Food and Fun. This means the recipe can be your own, your mother, your grandmother, your daughter, your aunt (or male counterparts of all these!) feel free to even include your in-laws! I know I intend to drag Kristina (my DIL) into this if I can!

I want to shout out a special thanks to Josie (who is Laura's sister) of
1 Kitchen, 2 Dogs and a Girl for creating our logo for us!

I will so be entering this.. how fun, I have it saved so I wont forget!
Looks great, thanks again for hosting first!
Great idea! I'll put a reminder on my blog to cook something.
My grandmother was also a great influence in my love of food and cooking.
Good luck! It sounds like a fun event! I'll look forward to seeing all the recipes.
How fun!
You are doing a wonderful job with these funny event!
Cheers!

This sounds like a fun blogevent!! I would love to join, but unfortunately we don't have any familyrecipes. Both my grandmothers were not very adventurous in the kitchen. My mom just to have a booklet in which she wrote down her favourite recipes, but that seems to have been lost during moving from one home to the other...
Ohhhh What a wonderful idea! I think I may have a couple of recipes I would like to submit :) I will get back to you on that!
I'm in!!! I think the logo is too cute to only use on one post tho... have you considered offering it as one we can put on our side bar all the time?
I'm so excited about this.
Wow, what a great website you have here. It is nice to see actual fresh content for a change. From one webmaster to another, I congratulate you for the effort you must have put in. I will definitely recommend your website to my readers which is highly related to your theme. Keep up the great work on your website!
I love it! What a fabulous idea!
What a sweet idea! I'll have to give this some thought...
A wonderful idea! I have more than a few recipes not only from my own family but my husband's as well. The trick is for me to get off my duff and actually do it! If this is a monthly event then I should be able to participate some time. Love the logo!
Love this event, and I will try to work something up for it. I just posted my grandmother's chocolate bread pudding recipe on Tuesday, but I guess that doesn't count! But for the future - Do you permit submissions to more than one event? For example, can it be for this event and for Presto Pasta?
I love this idea. sounds like so much fun. i hope to participate! :)
That's cool! What to do for recipes though? My mom and her mother never used them....they're a pinch of these a splash of that! I'll have to work on it.
Love the logo!

Oh, this looks like fun. And it doesn't have to be baking. Fantastic!!! Count me in, I hope.
What a great event you and Laura have created!! I can't wait to call my mom and start discussing family recipes :)
Fabulous idea!!! Will spread the word.
This is a great idea! I have one in mind and can't wait to see the others!
Great idea! Count me in!
It sounds like fun Shelby, I can only imagine the wonderful recipes we're gonna see!
What a TERRIFIC idea and one that I will be following. Family recipes are the best, tried, true, and loved. I like how the recipe choice is open-ended. I think I might join in on this.
How fun, Shelby!!! Count me in!!!
This is a great idea! I have recipes from my grandma that are great...I'll try to enter this if I find time this weekend!!!
This is such a wonderful idea! I have some recipes already in mind. Love the logo!
What a wonderful, timely event....my aunt gave me a family cookbook for my birthday. Looking forward to playing along!
It was good to catch up w/ you Shelby. And even better to hear your surgery went OK...how scary it must have been for you!
That asparagus tart in a previous post looks amazing!
What a great idea! Love your logo - so cute.
I'll get started thinking of ideas so I can jump in on this one! Great idea!
This is such a nice event and a great way to share the stories of such important people in our lives. I think this will be a living history with such great value! Thanks!
Sounds fun! I'm going to think of something yummy...
What a fun event! I will be looking forward to reading everyone's recipes and will see if I can dig up a family recipe to share as well. Thanks for hosting!
Sounds good to me...great idea!! Will try & send you an entry! Cheers
Great idea Shelby.
Thanks to you and Laura for organizing this event... and you're welcome for the logo. Who knew I could do that?! It took a fight with my boyfriend over him distracting me while I was trying to edit the picture to get it right, but I think it was worth it ;)
I already made my recipe for this month's event and should have it up in the next week.
Funny you should post this event - I have a cookbook that my great grandmother put together with recipes from her life - I will make one of those. This should be fun!!!
This is perfect for me! I have been meaning to try my grandmother's recipes for ages. She lives with my family so you'd think I'd have gotten around to it! It's so important to me to get all her recipes now while I can. I'm so excited:D
I saw this event mentioned on Barbara's blog, Barbara Bakes, so I thought that I would check it out. It looks like a lot of fun. I'm hoping to join in soon.
